Petite Nature
We have followed Pauline Maziou from the very beginning in 2019 and have ordered a bottle of Petite Nature whenever we have gotten the chance. Although we have tried hard, the production has been so tiny that there has not been enough for export, but finally production has reached a level where it has been possible to get a small allocation to Denmark. We praise ourselves lucky for that, since we adore the wines of Petite Nature, which never fail to put a smile on our faces.
Pauline Mazious’ talent is unmistakable, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that she has previously worked at both La Ferme des 7 Lunes and Daniel Sage. Pauline grew up on the family farm in the same area that Petite Nature belongs to in Quintenas in the heart of Ardèche, where she has settled down to be close to nature. Her tiny plots are cared for according to biodynamic principles, and the philosophy is quite simply to produce the healthiest grapes possible to be able to interfere as little as possible during vinification.
The wine is made in the microscopic cellar under Pauline’s home, and although the production is minimal, it is gradually increasing year by year. The approach is completely hands-off without additions of any kind, fining or filtration. Instead, she works meticulously and with a great deal of patience before bottling the wines. Although Pauline Maziou has her very own style, it is also clear where she has learned how to make wine. The wines of Petite Nature are made from grapes and nothing else – they are vibrant, unadorned and true to their origins wrapped in an irresistible drinkability and elegance.
Lieu-dit recommends
Below are our suggestions for wines that are not necessary similar, but stylistically fits some of the same markers as the wine you are currently looking at. For each of the producers we work with, we have tried to answer the question: "If you like the wines from this producer, which other wines from our portfolio would be something you would enjoy?".
