Giuseppe Lazzaro

Sicily

Giuseppe Lazzaro makes uncompromising wine on Sicily and lives in Milo on the east side of Etna. Giuseppe was in charge of Frank Cornelissen’s cellar for a period of 10 years, but started to make his own wines in 2020 from a total of 2.5 hectares.

The vineyard work is organically certified (although the wines are not), and Giuseppe works with deep respect for the area’s biodiversity and microclimate. The vineyards are distributed between the east and north sides of the volcano in the four municipalities of Giarre, Milo, Castiglione di Sicilia and Randazzo, where the soil on Etna is – naturally – of volcanic origin. The vines are between 60-90 years old.

The wine, which Giuseppe Lazzaro makes in Filippo Rizzo’s cellar at Lamoresca, is something very distinctive – it is complex and unique with a clear presence of its terroir.

Below are our suggestions for wines that are not necessary similar, but stylistically fits some of the same markers as the wine you are currently looking at. For each of the producers we work with, we have tried to answer the question: "If you like the wines from this producer, which other wines from our portfolio would be something you would enjoy?".
