Les En Hauts
Les En Hauts has come into existence after 20 years of friendship between Frédéric Cossard and Damien Coquelet. Fred is known for his excellent Burgundies, but has always been a big fan of Beaujolais, which after World War II enjoyed the same recognition as a Grand Cru from Côte de Nuits. Damien’s talent has been obvious since he started as a winemaker in 2007, and today he enjoys recognition in Beaujolais for his conscientious work in the vineyard and his non-interventionist approach in the cellar.
With Les En Hauts the two friends work 100% organically in the vineyards, harvest by hand in small crates to protect the grapes and vinify their wines in cement eggs. They make a Morgon from 50-year-old vines facing northeast and a Chiroubles facing southeast that is home to 100-year-old vines. The style is serious while being both light and elegant, and the quality is fully on par with what you can expect from two such experienced winemakers.
