Les Chants Jumeaux
We are thrilled to once again be able to work with the wines from Les Chants Jumeaux. Back in 2012, talented Matthieu L’Hotelier began his life as a wine producer in what can best be described a shed. His partner Chloélie Cholot-Louis joined the project in 2020, and together they upgraded their physical surroundings by moving into a 17th-century farm outside the village of Montrelais in 2022. The domaine is located in the eastern-most part of Muscadet as close to Anjou as possible, which is reflected in the wines – this is Muscadet with a clearly different profile more reminiscent of Chenin from Anjou.
Old vines grow on the vineyards, but Matthieu and Chloélie are also busy planting new ones to gradually expand their production. They tend to the vines completely without chemical aids and instead use different plant-based mixtures and generally the aim is to interfere as little as possible while letting nature take its course.
A similar approach is used in the cellar, where Matthieu works patiently and thoughtfully while pressing the grapes slowly to give the wines texture followed by fermentation and aging in fiberglass tanks. Despite a hands-off approach, the wines from Les Chants Jumeaux are made with great attention to detail, which is clearly sensed in these precise wines and their underlying minerality and freshness.
