Cristina Prandi
We are full of admiration for Cristina Prandi. Her talent is indisputable, and she has already impressed us with her first vintages of Langhe Nebbiolo, which takes its starting point in a classical expression, but at the very delicate, bright and juicy end of the scale.
Cristina was born into a wine family and has close ties to the family winery from 1864 in the town of Barolo.
During the more than 30 years that Cristina’s uncle, Giuseppe Prandi, was at the helm, he chose not to bottle the wine himself meaning that the “Prandi” bottles were not available for 36 years, when Barolo became known around the world. Nevertheless, he approached the task with the utmost respect for the area, the vineyards and family traditions. Along with the love of the job, these values have been passed on to Cristina, who has been working for Giuseppe since 2015. In parallel, she has been working on her own project, which is as small as it is ambitious. When her first vintage 2019 was released, wine was finally once again bottled in the Prandi family’s name.
One hectare in Paiagallo and one hectare in La Morra belong to her vineyard, which have historically been vinified in the family home and cellar in the middle of Barolo, but after her uncle’s death in 2023, Cristina has bought a new cellar in La Morra. Her plan is to continuously expand production with more vineyards, just as the 2021 Barolo will be released in 2025, and the 2023 Barolo Paiagallo will be made available in 2027.
From our very first conversations and visits, Cristina has impressed us with her uncompromising approach in both the vineyard and the cellar, which is based on her enormous respect for handed down traditions, nature, the area and the Nebbiolo grape. In the cellar, the wine macerates in cement containers and ages in large oak barrels and steel tanks to allow it to express itself in the best possible way.

Below are our suggestions for wines that are not necessary similar, but stylistically fits some of the same markers as the wine you are currently looking at. For each of the producers we work with, we have tried to answer the question: "If you like the wines from this producer, which other wines from our portfolio would be something you would enjoy?".
