Yann Durieux
In record time, Yann Durieux has become an icon in Burgundy not least because of his distinctive long dreadlocks. But if there is one thing he really needs to be recognized for, it is his perfectionism when it comes to his work as a winemaker. He has previously worked for Julien Guillot from Clos des Vignes du Maynes and 10 years for Yannick Champ and Hénry Roch from Domaine Prieuré-Roch.
Yann Durieux made his first vintage in 2010, and since then things have gained momentum for him and his domaine Recrue des Sens. The vineyards are mainly located in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits and are all cultivated with an extreme attention to detail. In the cellar, his 10 years at Prieuré-Roch are easily noticed. Yann works with whole clusters and uses no cultured yeast, chaptalization, fining, filtration or added sulphur. The wines are light and ethereal in style and from the absolute highest level in Burgundy, but since Yann does not bother struggling with the authorities, he chooses to bottle everything as Vin de France.
