Romain Lançon
There is something particularly compelling about producers who have a clear vision from their very first vintage. Romain Lançon is one of them. After several years working alongside Alexandre Jouveaux, he established his own tiny domaine, Les Farbottes, in the Mâconnais. We were immediately taken by the debut 2023 vintage, which already displays a confidence and individuality more commonly associated with far more established growers.
The wines clearly reflect his apprenticeship with Jouveaux. Romain consistently harvests at full ripeness, even in warmer vintages, rather than chasing freshness through early picking. The result is wines of depth and seriousness, yet with an impressive sense of ease and drinkability.
The story is still a short one. In 2023, Romain gained access to his first parcels of Pinot Noir and Gamay and produced fewer than 1,000 bottles of wine. Since then, additional vineyards have been added, and the domaine has grown steadily, never losing sight of its primary ambition: to produce honest wines with a clear expression of their origin.
Romain Lançon farms his vineyards with great respect for nature, while everything in the cellar beneath his home in Jalogny is guided by trust in the fruit and lots of patience. The wines ferment with native yeasts, without temperature control and with as little intervention as possible. The result is a range of wines that feel vibrant and sincere, with a clear and unmistakable connection between vineyard, vintage and winemaker.
Lieu-dit recommends
Below are our suggestions for wines that are not necessary similar, but stylistically fits some of the same markers as the wine you are currently looking at. For each of the producers we work with, we have tried to answer the question: "If you like the wines from this producer, which other wines from our portfolio would be something you would enjoy?".
