Giuseppe Rinaldi

Piedmont

It can hardly have gone unnoticed that Azienda Agricola Giuseppe Rinaldi ranks among the most influential and sought-after producers in Barolo. The estate’s identity is inseparably from Giuseppe “Beppe” Rinaldi, who maintained an unwavering traditional approach during a period marked by widespread modernisation in the Langhe: long macerations, ageing in large botti, the blending of parcels in Barolo rather than single-vineyard bottlings and a general restraint in the use of technology.

When Beppe Rinaldi passed away in 2018, his daughters, Marta Rinaldi and Carlotta Rinaldi, took over. By then, both were already highly experienced and had been closely involved in the work of the estate for many years. Responsibilities are clearly defined: Carlotta, trained as an agronomist, is primarily in charge of the vineyards, while Marta, an oenologist, holds overall responsibility in the cellar.

Today, Rinaldi presents itself as an estate where a strong, personally rooted tradition is carried forward with insight and care, while remaining open and inquisitive in the pursuit of ongoing refinement. In the vineyards, they work with utmost precision at every stage of the growing season, and in the cellar, maceration and extraction are continuously fine-tuned, with a clear focus on preserving balance and clarity under increasingly challenging climatic conditions.

The continuity is evident. Marta and Carlotta not only uphold the estate’s well-defined style, but also the spirit that has always been such a defining part of the family. Rinaldi is not merely about wine; it is a cultural institution in the Langhe – one that has never sought attention, but has instead aimed to elevate the region as a whole.
