Hervé Villemade
In the late 1990s, Hervé Villemade took over the family estate Domaine du Moulin and embarked on a radical conversion of the vineyards to organic farming methods. Today, the domaine consists of approximately 25 hectares in the appellation of Cheverny, where Hervé makes a comprehensive portfolio of juicy and extremely easily drinkable wines made from Pinot Noir, Gamay, Côt, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Romorantin, Menu Pineau, Chenin Blanc and Pinot d’Aunis.
Hervé Villemade is a shining example that a relatively large area of land is not a limitation when it comes to making unmanipulated and vibrant wines without shenanigans, as long as the quality of the grapes is good enough. All wines ferment spontaneously, while the addition of sulphur is kept to an absolute minimum or omitted completely, which is the case for several of the cuvées.
