Damien Coquelet
Damien Coquelet is the stepson of renowned winemaker Georges Descombes and has been involved in the vineyards and the cellar since his early childhood. In 2007, at the age of just 20, he made his first vintage under his own name, and in record time he has gained serious recognition for his work in Beaujolais.
The recipe for his success is conscientious work in the vineyard, spontaneous fermentation, as little interference as possible in the cellar and very little or no added sulphur. Also, it does not hurt that Damien Coquelet is a close friend of the famous Burgundy winegrower Frédéric Cossard (see their joint project Les En Hauts), who is always willing to share his opinions and loving encouragement. The style is elegant, mouth-watering and unmanipulated, but still with a certain amount of concentration and structure.
Lieu-dit recommends
Below are our suggestions for wines that are not necessary similar, but stylistically fits some of the same markers as the wine you are currently looking at. For each of the producers we work with, we have tried to answer the question: "If you like the wines from this producer, which other wines from our portfolio would be something you would enjoy?".
