Il Ceo
Davide Andreatta, also known as “Il Ceo” (meaning “the boy” in the local dialect), has fallen in love with agriculture and especially the diversity of local grape varieties in his local area of Breganze in Veneto. Here he has established himself as a winemaker who produces unmanipulated and enormously easy-drinking wines. The vineyard work is extremely conscientious, and David is gradually working on regrafting his vines using “selection massale” to get rid of the common international grape varieties that have gained ground in the area in favour of local grape varieties such as Vespaiola and Groppello.
In the cellar, Davide abides to the exact virtues that we are looking for: spontaneous fermentation, minimal intervention, zero fining and filtration and a minimal addition of sulphur if considered necessary at all. Il Ceo produces wines with an enormous freshness and precision. They are vibrant and full of energy, while still being serious and understated. This is not just wine for drinking quickly, but wine that sometimes requires your full attention.
